Estes Park EDC Welcomes New Board Members
At its January meeting, the Estes Park Economic Development Corporation (Estes Park EDC) Board approved three new Board member positions, and appointed new Estes Park Medical Center CEO Dr. Larry Leaming to its Board to succeed outgoing Board member Chuck Levine. Jim McGibney, a developer and consultant joins the Board after serving as a volunteer for the organization. Board Chair James H. Pickering is becoming an individual Board member and contributor after serving on behalf of EPIC, Inc., the Rocky Mountain Performing Arts Center. Finally, business owner Diane Muno will now represent The Spruce House, Inc. after serving on behalf of the Estes Park Wedding Association. Muno owns five local retail businesses through The Spruce House.
Dr. Larry Leaming is an accomplished rural hospital administrator, educator, consultant, and researcher with more than 35 years of healthcare experience. His experience progression extends from the front lines of patient care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, to management positions. Leaming served as the Chief Executive Officer for six small rural hospitals in Nebraska, New Mexico, and Colorado. Dr. Leaming is a Board Certified healthcare executive and Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He holds a Master degree in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Jim McGibney is an experienced engineering and development professional who has completed a wide range of complex projects. He is focused on the development of industrial and commercial assets, and specializes in projects that have unique technical, schedule or financial challenges. Jim’s experience is also across a wide range of capital asset types. Jim and his wife have a home in Estes Park.
James H. Pickering became Estes Park’s Historian Laureate in 2006. He received his undergraduate education at Williams College and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University. A professor of English, specializing in American literature and American studies, he taught at Michigan State University, where he served as Director of The Honors College, and at the University of Houston, where he served as Dean, Provost and President. Jim also serves on other Estes Park area boards.
Diane Muno is the owner of 5 retail businesses in Estes Park. Prior to her retail launch she was in Health Care Receivables Management for 15 years in both the hospital and private sector environment. Diane is very active in the Estes Park community and sits on several Boards of Directors.
Estes Park EDC plans for and promotes the economic development of the Estes Valley in ways that are compatible with those qualities that make Estes Park a unique mountain community. The Corporation shall use and promote the tools of economic development to create a more dynamic, multi-generational community to the benefit of all citizens.
It is anticipated that at the next Board meeting, both the Rocky Mountain Performing Arts Center and Estes Park Wedding Association will name replacement Board members to serve on their behalf.
