Estes Park EDC Board Member Spotlight

The Estes Park Economic Development Corporation (Estes Park EDC) Board of Directors recently approved Walter Kochansky of Delaware North to join its Board in January. Delaware North owns both the Ridgeline Hotel and Trendz retail store in Downtown Estes Park.

Having spent the first 40 years of his life in Ohio, Walter decided to set on a path to explore the U.S. His love of National Parks is obvious from his adventures in managing lodging properties near Olympic, Shenandoah, Glacier, Yellow Stone, Sequoia, and other National Parks before settling down here in Estes Park. Walter’s experience working for Red Roof and now Delaware North has allowed him to travel to 48 of the 50 states.

Walter moved to Estes Park in June of 2020 as the new General Manager of the Ridgeline Hotel. While Estes Park is one of the most loved mountain communities, his move to paradise was not without its challenges; not only has Walter had to face managing a hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also through the wildfire evacuations. During the temporary closure of the Ridgeline Hotel, Walter has been leading efforts to deep clean the rooms and property and oversee indoor renovations. The hotel will re-open full time on March 11 and will continue to prioritize health, safety, and the guest experience. In May, the Ridgeline Hotel will have a new addition of a game room for children and adults.

Walter values the economic development and sustainability of Estes Park stating, “It’s important to keep growing Estes and redefining what we are.” He is pleased to see that Workforce Housing is an issue being addressed by the Town, Estes Park EDC and community partners. He is looking forward to becoming more involved in the Estes Park EDC and the community. Walter describes his goal as being involved and actively communicating with people on the Board, in order to learn more about the needs of local businesses and residents of Este Park. Walter also hopes that by staying informed of community issues, he and his staff will continue to improve service to the visitors and guests at the Ridgeline Hotel and Trendz.
