Estes Park EDC Investor Spotlight: Chris Jorgensen
The Estes Park Economic Development Corporation (Estes Park EDC) is proud to announce its newest Board member Chris Jorgensen. Chris is the CFO/VP of Finance at YMCA of the Rockies and is a Colorado native. He grew up in Littleton and attended college in North Dakota, majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a minor in Economics. In his spare time, he was an avid sports enthusiast, playing both basketball and football. Upon graduation, he began working at a CPA firm that audited and consulted with nonprofit organizations. He later earned a master’s degree from Denver University, studying organizational development and strategic innovation and change. Chris made a career change when he began working at One Child, a nonprofit that dedicates itself to holistic child development in third world countries. There, he was able to experience the power of combining strategic focus with engaged and empowered employees; a combination that Chris is very passionate about and can help organizations maximize their mission impact.
Chris moved to Estes Park in April of 2020, but he is no stranger to this charming small mountain community. Growing up, he visited in Estes Park on family vacations; a tradition he carried on with his own wife and children. He enjoys the outdoor community and the ease of access to hiking and mountain biking. Chris joined the YMCA in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, where they faced many obstacles, including the ever changing health and safety guidelines for both YMCA of the Rockies and Snow Mountain Ranch. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic moving into the 2021 summer season.
Chris is excited to collaborate with community partners on how to meet the needs of the community and visitors of Estes Park. Chris believes that economic development is important to the Estes Valley “to help ensure future generations are able to experience Estes Park and all it has to offer, and to help residents thrive, help our children grow and develop, and support and encourage local businesses.”.
