Estes Park EDC B.A.S.E. Company Spotlight: Backroad Packers

Madalyne Staab and Luke Holmes of Backroad Packers recently participated in the Estes Park Economic Development Corporation (Estes Park EDC) Business Accelerator Services of Estes (B.A.S.E.) Program. Madalyne and Luke are passionate about slow and sustainable travel which allows people to connect with various cultures and landscapes around the world. "This provides an opportunity to expand your mindset and focus on personal values outside of societal expectations," Luke commented. Through their personal research, their goal is to show how creating a work life balance is accessible to everyone.

Madalyn and Luke found the B.A.S.E. Program an informative jumping off point to pivot their business. Their passion for adventure was their original inspiration for their first business "Framepoint Limited." They provided services including photography, drone cinematography, web design services and videography. They quickly realized their original business model reduced their capacity for travel, their main passion. Backroad Packers was born as they developed a new mission and purpose, while working from anywhere in the world.

Through the B.A.S.E. Program, Madalyne and Luke were paired with a business mentor who provided guidance and accountability when it came to reaching their goals. Their main take away from the Program stemmed from Business Model Mapping and Purpose in Business. They found that Business Model Mapping helped to organize their mission, purpose, relationships, resources, revenue and more. Purpose in Business focused on putting a desired purpose into words and created the time and tools to strategically design their culture. The session offered proven, actionable tools to help create a positive and purposeful business that will endure into the future.

Their online blog (@backroad_packers) offers guidance for the digital nomad to immerse themselves in different ways of living while maintaining their work life obligations. To learn more about slow and sustainable travel, visit www.backroadpackers.com
