Pickering passes gavel to McGibney

On Thursday, November 21, the Estes Park EDC Board of Directors convened for regular monthly business and to bid farewell to Board Chair Jim Pickering. 

Mr. Pickering became Estes Park’s Historian Laureate in 2006. He received his undergraduate education at Williams College and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University.  A professor of English, specializing in American literature and American studies, he taught at Michigan State University, where he served as Director of The Honors College, and at the University of Houston, where he served as Dean, Provost and President. For the past 8 years, EDC has been lucky to have his experience and insight on the EDC Task force and ultimately chairing its Board of Directors. Mr. Pickering will remain on the Board as an ex officio member.

Mr. Pickering passed the gavel to Jim McGibney, who will take over as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. Mr. McGibney is an experienced engineering and development professional who has completed a wide range of complex projects. He specializes in projects that have unique technical, schedule or financial challenges. Mr. McGibney joined the EDC Board in 2017.
